Nov 2010 The Ministry of Finance has released a draft list of new customs tariffs to be applied from 2011, replacing the current tariff which has been effective under Circular 216 / 2009 / TT-BTC.
In accordance with its WTO commitments, Vietnam is proposing to change the import duty rates for more than 1,000 harmonized system ("HS") codes. For export duty rates, 10 HS codes will enjoy lower rates. However, there are 4 HS codes related to coal that will bear higher export duty rates.
We recommend that you review the draft list to identify the impact of these changes to your import / export operations.
